“You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win”.
As a home-based entrepreneur, I struggled with productivity and drive occasionally. After researching and trying out various tactics, I’ve compiled a list of behaviours that significantly increase my productivity.
And if they assist me, they will help you as well!
Could you take a look at them down below?
1. Create a Morning Schedule
A regular morning ritual can help you psychologically prepare for the tasks ahead of you and establish a positive tone for the rest of the day. Create a ritual that works for you, like doing yoga, reading, or having a nutritious breakfast. A well-established morning routine can result in a more balanced lifestyle and higher productivity. I highly recommend reading BJ Fogg’s excellent book, Tiny Habits, for further ideas and inspiration.
2. Sip lots of water
Staying hydrated is crucial for general health and optimal brain function. Drinking lots of water can help entrepreneurs stay focused, feel less tired, and think clearly. Have a reusable water bottle with you at all times, and make a note to sip regularly during the day. I recently purchased a Berkey water filter and got up in the morning to go to it. It is currently situated on my countertop.
3. Use a daily task app, such as ClickUp or Notion
Sustaining productivity requires excellent task management daily. Notion and ClickUp are two apps that provide easy-to-use platforms for task organization, deadline setting, and progress monitoring. By employing these tools, you can ensure that everything gets noticed and optimize your productivity. I create sections specifically for each staff member to ensure everyone knows the ongoing duties or projects.
4. Workout
Exercise regularly has been shown to increase vitality, promote well-being overall, and improve cognitive performance. Include physical activity in your regular schedule, such as a gym session or a jog in the morning. Exercising allows you to handle stress, stay focused, and have an excellent work-life balance. For me, surfing is the ideal combination of physical activity, mindfulness, and time in nature. Even though it’s not always possible—there may not be any waves, or the wind or tide may not be right—I always try to go first thing in the morning. If so, a vigorous ride on the treadmill, bike, or even a yoga class helps me prepare for the day.
5. Spend Time in Nature
Spending time in nature has several mental health advantages, such as lowered stress levels, happier moods, and enhanced creativity. Take breaks to go outside, stroll around a park, or work in a green area. You might get inspiration and refuel for your business ventures by spending time in nature. Even though it’s such a simple thing, many of us—including myself—sometimes forget to go outside! Fortunately, an undeveloped route runs near my house and meanders along the shoreline. I can stroll along the path and take in the sounds of the birds chirping and the water in five minutes.
6. Utilize an Upright Desk
A stand-up desk may significantly improve your general health and productivity. Standing while working can help with posture, lower cholesterol and heart disease risk, and boost attentiveness. Switching between standing and sitting throughout the day can sustain your energy levels and keep you focused on your work. These days, desks that adjust to sit or stand are available, and I strongly advise looking into them. The last time I checked, IKEA even carried one!
7. Assign
Assigning responsibilities to your team members is essential for controlling your workload and focusing on high-value assignments. Gain confidence in your team’s ability and give them the freedom to assume responsibility. Effective delegation may keep you productive, prevent burnout, and improve productivity at work.
To sum up, implementing these seven tactics can significantly increase your productivity as an entrepreneur. Even if only a handful of these suggestions help you establish a more effective and harmonious work atmosphere, it is a success. Adopting these habits can help you work more efficiently and promote professional and personal development, which will ultimately help you succeed as an entrepreneur.
